Rain showers fail to dampen fierce competition
Meet story by Rob "Watchout" Monroe
Being aggressive paid off for teams and individuals alike at the South Whidbey meet that was bogged down by rains during Friday night and most of Saturday. However, the rains did not dampen the excellent competition as many regionally and nationally ranked squads competed well to make this meet a great success. - FULL STORY

US#11 Jesuit girls favorites in high powered regional meet
South Whidbey promises to be one of the premier meets in the nation this weekend, as many highly ranked teams from Washington and Oregon duke it out for early season bragging rights and potentially some NXN At-Large points if things work out just right. In this high powered tug-a-war between Washington and Oregon powers, there are a total of 6 NXN Ranked squads (plus one 'on the bubble' team), 9 schools ranked in Watchout's Fleet 15, and 21 Washington state-ranked teams (ranked by state coaches). Will the 2007 Champions Gig Harbor Boys & Girls be able to win it again, will Oregon powerhouse Jesuit knock them off, will the Jackson boys regain the title (having won in 2003, 2005 and 2006), will Redmond win a title in their first time at the meet, could Sehome take both titles like they did at Bellarmine last weekend, or will another team rise to the occassion to notch the esteemed invitational's team title in their belt this season?
There are some good individual battles for this weekend as well. On the boys side, one of Washington's top harriers - Central Kitsap's Shane Moskowitz - looks to take on all comers, including Eisenhower's Bryan Simison,Redmond's Aiden Irish, Gig Harbor's Conner Peloquin, Jackson's Ben Lance, and Westview's Erik Myers. The girls battle also features prominent runners, not limited to Gig Harbor's Alyssa Andrews, Jesuit's Anne Marie Maag and Noelle VanRysselberghe, Redmond's Sarah Lord and Devin McMahon, and Sehome's Annie Moore.
